The short version: Hydrate or Diedrate does not require an account, does not run analytics, and does not send your water log to DahVio Studios. Your entries, streak, and settings stay on your device.
1. Who We Are
Hydrate or Diedrate is developed and published by DahVio Studios, a solo developer studio based in Long Beach, California, operated by Ray (ray@dahvio.com).
2. Data Stored on Your Device
To make the app useful across sessions, Hydrate or Diedrate stores app data locally on your device using React Native's on-device storage system (AsyncStorage).
This may include:
- Your daily water goal, preferred unit (oz or mL), and theme setting
- Logged water entries for each day, including amount and timestamp
- Your current and best hydration streak
- Whether onboarding has been completed
- An archive of past reminder notifications you've received (used for the in-app notification history)
- Whether you have purchased Preserved — Lifetime Access, and your selected app icon
- Small counters used to time the App Store review prompt
This data is stored locally on your device only. It is not uploaded to a DahVio server, tied to a DahVio account, or used to build a behavioral profile.
3. Apple Health
If you enable Health sync (a Preserved feature), Hydrate or Diedrate requests permission to write your logged water intake to Apple Health.
- The app requests write-only access to the Water category in Health
- The app does not request or read any of your existing Health data
- Health sync is off by default and only runs for Preserved members who enable it in Settings
- Data written to Health is governed by Apple's Health privacy protections, not by DahVio Studios
4. Notifications
Hydrate or Diedrate schedules local reminder notifications directly on your device using iOS's notification system. These reminders are generated and delivered entirely on-device — no reminder content is sent to or from a DahVio server, and DahVio Studios does not know when or whether a notification was shown.
5. In-App Purchases
Preserved — Lifetime Access is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely through Apple's App Store. DahVio Studios does not receive or store your payment card details.
The app stores a local flag indicating whether Preserved has been unlocked on your device, and can ask Apple's App Store to restore a prior purchase for your Apple ID. This restore check is handled by Apple — DahVio Studios does not maintain its own record of your purchase.
6. No Account Required. No Backend.
Hydrate or Diedrate has no sign-in flow, no registration system, and no cloud account required to use the app. There is no DahVio user profile attached to your hydration log.
7. No Analytics, Ads, or Tracking SDKs
Hydrate or Diedrate does not include analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking frameworks operated by DahVio Studios. DahVio Studios does not receive a log of when you drink water, how often you open the app, or what your streak is.
8. Deleting or Resetting Your Data
Because your Hydrate or Diedrate data is stored locally on your device, removing the app from your device removes the locally stored data associated with it.
DahVio Studios does not retain a server-side copy of your hydration log.
9. Children's Privacy
Hydrate or Diedrate is a general-use hydration tracking app. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and it does not require personal information from any user in order to function.
10. Apple's Data Practices
While DahVio Studios does not collect your hydration log, Apple may collect certain information as part of normal iOS, HealthKit, and App Store operations. For more information about Apple's own practices, please review Apple's Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
If the app's privacy or data handling practices ever change, this policy will be updated with a new effective date.
